As the Vosges mountains are near the german and swiss borders, we decided to open our competition to international class V pilots. You are all welcomed, there is not limit to the number of foreign pilots as in most other "Open" competitions. Please class I pilots, we beg your pardon for this time, if we are successfull, next year we will open it to you too.
This competition takes place on an ordinary week-end, this means 2 days only. As our goal is flying and not queuing for registration, waypoint downloading and so on, pilots are encouraged to do those activities before Saturday morning.
Internet registration deadline: Friday May the 11th at 9pm
Headquarter: Syndicat Mixte pour l'aménagement du Markstein Grand-Ballon, little light green house on the right hand side off the church
Late registration and Waypoint downloading for those who didn't do it by Internet: Saturday from 9 till 10am at the headquarter.
Daily meeting point is at 10am at the headquarter where the take off site of the day will be given to you so as acces road, parking instructions and briefing time.
Be aware that with east wind conditions the take off window may open as soon as noon. So pilots should not loose time, in order to have their gliders ready before the start of the briefing
Here below, pilots can download the waypoints file to their computer in order to transfer them to their GPS before coming.
Pilots not equiped with the necessary computer software or hardware can either
Late arriving pilots will still have the possibility to manually enter the coordinates of the few necessary waypoints during the briefing and preflight operations. They will be written on the taskboard in DD°MM,MMM' format.
Here you can download the waypoint file on your computer,
Main area JPEG map with waypoints:
And for those who still don't own any GPS software, we suggest you the GPSDump freeware with a tutorial explaining how to download the waypoint file to your GPS : http://lavl.free.fr/GPS-et-parapente.html
Those GPS-PC data transfer cables are available: MLR SP24XC, Garmin with rond inlet, Compeo & Foretrex 101 & 201. Pilots using other GPS models are requested to bring their own PC cable in order to be able to transfer their tracklogs for flight validation.
The scoring will be done using the last GAP version available. Pilots having a FAI licence will also score to the WPRS
